The Community Center and Film Night in the Park  present
The Sing-Along
“Oklahoma”

Fri. Sept. 12th
Seating starts at 7:30

Ostensibly a love story between the cowboy, Curly, and headstrong farm girl, Laurey, Oklahoma! goes much further than simple romance. With its tale of a territory on the verge of becoming a state, it's also the story of a cowboy trading in wide open spaces for the fenced-in parameters of his fiancee's farm. Oklahoma! celebrates both the spirit and the taming of the American frontier. It's a tale that's at once witty and sentimental, with an undercurrent of menace represented by the farmhand Jud, Curly's rival for Laurie. And while Rodgers and Hammerstein's score is, indeed, impressive, the real star of Oklahoma! is Agnes DeMille's choreography. Laurie's nightmare, in particular, where the rivalry between Curly and Jud boils down to a choice between a wedding and a whorehouse, is a spectacular, show-stopping ballet.

Adults $6; Kids $3. In the Courtyard. (no advance ticket sales)
