The Community Center offers a variety of interesting and healthy programs, events and activities for people 60 years of age and over. More than one in four of Valley residents are in this age bracket – the fastest growing demographic in our community.
The Elders Connect newsletter is a monthly email communication from the Community Center. The Elders Connect newsletter is designed for older adults and focuses on services and programming for ages 62+.
Start the day with some easy activity and meet new friends in the process! Meet at the San Geronimo Valley Commons (meet at the Community Gym) and take a stroll through our beautiful open space along accessible, paved walking paths. Let’s get moving!

The San Geronimo Valley Elders Advisory Council is a gathering of individuals and representatives of organizations that identify and address the needs of elders of the San Geronimo Valley and Nicasio through coordination, advocacy, trusted advising and agreed upon actions. The Elders Advisory Council inspires connections, builds community, and creates opportunities for meaningful engagement.

The Senior Lunch offers a healthy and nutritious meal for residents 60+ while also creating a social hub for connections and activities. The Senior Lunch is a nexus point where Seniors can gain access to resources and referrals, learn about upcoming events, and make new friends.
Participants are required to fill out an intake form prior to attending their first lunch. Intake forms are available on site at the Community Center.
Directly following the Senior Stroll meet us in the West Room at the Center and gather for a casual get together of tea and coffee, healthy snacks, and cookies. During the gathering the Center often curates interesting presentations from local organizations to connect seniors to important resources in the community.

Directly following the Tea & Cookies, Seniors connect for lively conversation and a variety of games and activities. There is lots of fun to be had - Apples to Apples, Scrabble, knitting, and more!

Growing Old Gracefully is a senior peer counseling group that with the help of volunteer facilitators supports senior members of our community as they sort through the transitions and realities of aging that we all face: the loss of independence and control, isolation, and declining physical health. This group is limited to 10 Seniors. To join the waitlist, please contact Julie Young at jyoung@sgvcc.org.

The Community Center hosts a monthly support group that LGBT identifying Seniors can join. Facilitator Bill Blackburn creates an inclusive, open, and safe space for LGBT Seniors to share and connect.

Monthly visits from Marin County Free Library staff providing all types of library services including library cards, downloading library apps, and tutorials on accessing digital services.
Monthly during the Senior Tea
Continuing to move and remain physically active is key to maintaining a healthy lifestyle as you age. Each week we offer FREE classes like Chair Yoga, Exercise for Altercockers and Senior Tai Chi.
Exercise for Altercockers happens on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 - 5: 15 pm. Chair Yoga happens at 11:00 on Mondays before the senior lunch. Tai Chi happens on Fridays from 9:30 - 10:30 am. QiGong for Seniors happens on Sundays at 9:30-10:30 am.
